The incoming Vice-president (elect) of The Gloucestershire Golf Union provided acontact at Burns Anderson. IW contacted the M.D and they have kindly agreed to sponsor the CGP in return for media and web-site coverage. £3,000 sponsorship agreed. Thanks to Ian for pursuing this lead.
4..Women’s Pilot Programme
The taster sessions promoted at Sherdons and Thornbury have been a huge success.
10 women attended the first session at Sherdons with James. Jenny May, Sue Rawles and SH attended. Thanks to Jenny, Sue and James for their support. Three further sessions are scheduled December – January, involving 15 women.
The response to the Thornbury sessions has been excellent.. Matt Floyd is running two sessions every Friday from November – February, involving 50 women in the programme. Thanks to the CGP for agreeing via email to support this programme with an additional £600 worth of funding.
PJ expressed an interest in Hartpury hosting similar events at their 10 bay range facility.
5.New Regional Development Officer Network
SH issued a map detailing the new RDO network.
The new officers started in November 2007 with regional changes officially taking effect from February 2008, allowing the new officers to start and complete a training programme as well as existing officers to carry out a handover. Jason Budd will be covering the new north east region. Steven Peet will be covering the new east region and John Stoszkowski will be covering maternity leave for Melanie Flude who is expecting twins early next year.
Everyone was disappointed that Jamie was unable to attend the meeting; however, a handover day has been penciled in for 9th January.
Jamie has invited Gloucestershire to join in with a Social Day that he has organised for CGP’s in the South West – details attached. The event is due to take place on 24th January at Tiverton Golf Club. 5 people are invited from each partnership. The day will include golf, keynote speakers and discussion groups
6.AOB
Richard Flint has issued the annual review to Gloucestershire due on 28th February
2008.
This document was reviewed at the April meeting
The PGA have asked for approximate details on the requirements for PGA Level 1
training from September 2008 to April 2009. SH to submit figures based on the
development plan.
The involvement of the PGA was discussed. JL and PJ sit on the group as PGA
members however it was felt that additional involvement was important and this should
be addressed by the CDO in the New Year.
CRB checks are no longer portable. CRB checks are completed based on a particular
role rather than the individual. The CRB decide what to put on a CRB check based on
that role. In addition, the form that the individual receives is different to the form that the
employer or de-ployer receives so if someone is under surveillance for example, it will
not show up on the disclosure form that the individual brings with them. This does mean
that anyone attending a PGA Level 1 course now needs to complete a PGA CRB check.
17 CGP’s are now in place with an additional 6 counties working towards it.
IW confirmed that there is currently £17, 625 in the CGP account prior to the City Days
and women’s sessions being deducted.
JM offered to support LC ref. the production of information for the web-site.
Marion had asked if the CGP could provide any support to a young player needing
equipment. The Steering Group felt that it was not part of their remit and would
potentially set a precedent. JM agreed to speak to Marion about the issue and discuss
some alternatives.

The Gloucestershire Golf Union has contributed 40p per member to the CGP. The
GLCGA have followed that lead and matched the 40p per member contribution. This
funding ensures that a CDO can be employed on a long-term basis rather than
limited to a 12 month contract. Any additional funding that is generated by
sponsorship is now viewed as a bonus, rather than a means to pay
for an officer.
