Punters at Cheltenham Racecourse’s Showcase Meeting in mid-October were at first a little bemused by the sight of golf clubs, targets and practice nets as they placed their bets – some of the younger racegoers thought the inflatable nets were some strange new version of the bouncy castle!
But no, this was the Partnership’s third City Day in Cheltenham and racing enthusiasts soon got the idea that here was a chance to have a go at golf. They came in waves between races … before the all important business of placing their bets! …. to do just that!
Dave Finch, the Professional from Cleeve Cloud and Olive French, one of our volunteer Level 1 coaches, were on hand to deliver tri-golf and golf extreme to the racegoers.
This was the final City Day for 2009 and we would like to thank Edward Gillespie and his staff at Cheltenham Racecourse for giving up valuable space for us to deliver golf and for making us feel very welcome every time we appeared, at the car boot sales and finally on this special race day.
