JUNE – THE PARTNERSHIP GOES VISITING
June saw our CDO, Debbie Casling, and her team of volunteers and professionals, out and about at events in the County – introducing golf to many who had never thought of it as a sport for them.
On the weekend of June 12/13 they went to the inaugural Gloucestershire Motor Show held at Highnam Court, organised by the two charities The Pied Piper Appeal and Cruse Bereavement Care, who shared the £30,000 raised.
In glorious weatherthousands of visitors enjoyed viewing new, old and futurist cars, as well as enjoying the beautiful gardens at Highnam Court. But what about our golf?
Tamara Leah, fundraiser for The Pied Piper, had this to say after she had ‘had a go’!:
“This was a brilliant activity and although many feel I was too old to take part as it was designed for children, I had a great time trying my hand at a new sport!
“To be given excellent tuition, and safe in the knowledge that however hard I hit the ball it would be caught in the net, gave me the chance to experience the addictive feeling of satisfaction when you hit the ball just right!”
Then, a week later the Partnership crew was off to Stroud’s Stratford Park Leisure Centre for the Generation Games –“a celebration of sport and physical activity for people of all ages and abilities.”
Another opportunity for us to offer GOLF FOR ALL!
